My Favorites

If you’ve been around Converse and Crowns from the beginning then you’ll remember that I used to do a monthly favorites post but I finally gave up because truthfully, I don’t find a ton of products I love or would recommend. I’m a big fan of finding something that works and sticking with it so when I came across five things that I actually loved, I knew I had to share it!
Locisne Cervical Traction Device for Neck Pain Relief
This is one of those products on Amazon that has about fifteen names in the title so I’m just calling it a neck contraption. If you have headaches, muscle tension or sit hunched over a computer for hours on end, then this might be a ray of light for you. I found this while on the search for something that could work on the knots at the base of my skull the way my massage therapist does and let me tell you, there are some doozies out there but this was cheap and worth the risk… plus it came in pink.
Essentially, you lay on the floor and line this up with your spine and neck. It is spring loaded and has little balls that dig into your muscles while you lay your head back which is both painful but relieving. When my neck is so tense from stress and lack of proper posture, this is my go to answer for a quick fix to get me through my day.

Shape Tape Concealer by Tarte
People have raved about all the Shape Tape products for years but I have a hard time justifying high end cosmetics when a cheaper product does fairly well. However, NYX stopped manufacturing my dark circle concealer so I was at a loss and with wearing a mask eight hours a day at work, I’ve only been doing tinted moisturizer, concealer and powder so I need those products to work. I realized as my dark circles were getting darker this year from stress and lack of sleep, that my random drug store pick wasn’t cutting it alone so I caved and tried this and man, does it work so much so that I went on the hunt for a dupe to drop my price point but it’s just not the same. I haven’t decided if I’m going to let my dark circles get the better of me but I may have to suck it up for a product that works.
The dupe I tried was L'Oreal's Infallible Full Wear Matte Concealer. A lot of my face makeup is from the Infallible line and I really like it for the price.

Jordan’s Skinny Gourmet Syrups
I like my coffee to resemble milk and to taste like something Queen Frostine and Princess Lolly would serve at a royal brunch. Unfortunately, consuming my daily recommended amount of calories in one mug is not ideal so I’m trying to cut back on creamer and find alternatives to my sweetness and flavor. The main issue I have is that a lot of sugar alternatives taste like you accidentally poured a Christmas air freshener in your drink so I’d rather just not have the beverage at all. So, when I found this brand and its non-chemically taste, I was ecstatic! They have tons of flavors online but the Birthday Cake option is my favorite. I’ve even had coffee without creamer and been okay which is like getting a toddler to eat beets. I will say, if you have a Tuesday Morning or TJ Maxx in your area, you can typically find these for about a third of the price on Amazon. Amazing either way!

Blackhead Remover Vacuum
I reviewed this product last month but I have to put it on my list because it’s still a favorite. I obviously don’t use it every night like I did for that test but I try to “vacuum” at least once a week which still leaves me grossed out and fascinated.

Mask Binder
This last favorite is an invention of my own, though I’m positive that I can’t be the only one who has thought of this option. For most of the pandemic, I have been keeping my masks on the gear shift in my car which is not necessarily hygienic but neither is my purse and yes, I know they make little cases but I have a number of masks to fit a variety of occasions because I have to wear them most everyday. This system was working well enough until a few months back, I nearly had a nervous breakdown trying to get my masks untangled on a Monday morning. It was one of those, “This isn’t really a big deal but I’m about to blow my top” moments and I knew I could come up with a basic system to organize my collection. And voila… A mini binder with mini page protectors that keep everything untangled, semi-clean, visually organized and easily accessible. All the parts are cheap on amazon and you will have more than enough page protectors to share with friends. I even added a cute cover because I’m extra but seriously. This has made my going places so much easier. No lost masks or left on the hall tree or stepped on by passengers. They are at my fingertips and in the midst of not being able to control a lot, this makes me happy!
