New Year, New Books #2: Fantastic Beasts... & #3: The Crimes of Grindlewald

If you know me, you know I love Harry Potter and anything related to that universe. Both of these books are screenplays for the first two movies in the most recent Harry Potter franchise. They take place in the 1920s prior to Voldemort or Harry but with many of our favorite characters. There are also many tie-ins to the Harry Potter series which creates mystery and excitement for anyone who has read both. The series also gives a glimpse into the wizarding world in America and other parts of Europe.

They are also some of the most beautifully designed books I’ve seen in a while. The company that did the graphics and design on several of the Harry Potter movies handled the books and they are gorgeous.

The only drawback is the screenplay format. It takes a bit to get into a rhythm of reading due to the layout and direction. However, they don’t take as long to read as a book with a similar length. I read each book in a day without binge reading. Also, if you haven’t read the Harry Potter series, I feel you can easily start with these titles.
